Sidefiles is committed to respecting your privacy. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's used.

Information we collect

Account data (only if you sign up): username, email, hashed password.
Uploaded files: the files you upload, plus optional metadata you provide (titles, tags, lyrics, descriptions).
Usage data: page visits, referrer, IP address, user-agent string, session ID. Used for analytics and to provide our service.
Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in; a guest-session cookie if you upload without signing up.

How we use it

To provide the file-sharing service itself.
To prevent abuse (rate limiting, captcha challenges, DMCA enforcement).
To improve the site (aggregated analytics, traffic patterns).
To serve relevant advertising (see "Third-party services" below).

Third-party services

We use third-party services for analytics, advertising, and content delivery. These services may collect their own data per their privacy policies. They include:

Advertising networks (e.g. Monetag) — may use cookies and a service worker (/sw.js) to serve relevant ads and push notifications.
Analytics (Histats, Google Search Console) — for traffic measurement.
Cloudflare / CDN — for content delivery and DDoS protection.
Cloudflare Turnstile — for captcha challenges on guest forms.

Your rights

You can delete your account at any time from the user settings.
You can request data export by contacting us.
You can opt out of analytics by using browser do-not-track settings (we respect DNT).
